अशेषब्रह्माण्डप्रलयविधिनैसर्गिकमतिः
श्मशानेष्वासीनः कृतभसितलेपः पशुपतिः ।
दधौ कण्ठे हालाहलमखिलभूगोलकृपया
भवत्याः सङ्गत्याः फलमिति च कल्याणि कलये ॥ 17॥


aśēṣabrahmāṇḍapralayavidhinaisargikamatiḥ
śmaśānēṣvāsīnaḥ kṛtabhasitalēpaḥ paśupatiḥ ।
dadhau kaṇṭhē hālāhalamakhilabhūgōlakṛpayā
bhavatyāḥ saṅgatyāḥ phalamiti cha kalyāṇi kalayē ॥ 17॥

अशेष-ब्रह्माण्ड-प्रलय-विधि-नैसर्गिक-मती ।

श्मशानेषु आसीनः कृत-भसित-लेपः पशुपतिः ।

दधौ कण्ठे हालाहलम् अखिल-भूगोल-कृपया ।

भवत्याः सङ्गत्याः फलम् इति च कल्याणि कलये ॥

Anvaya (Prose Order)

हे कल्याणि, अशेषब्रह्माण्डप्रलयविधिनैसर्गिकमतिः, श्मशानेषु आसीनः, कृतभसितलेपः पशुपतिः अखिलभूगोलकृपया कण्ठे हालाहलं दधौ। भवत्याः सङ्गत्याः फलम् इति च कलये।

Meaning of the Words 

अशेषब्रह्माण्डप्रलयविधिनैसर्गिकमतिः - aśēṣabrahmāṇḍapralayavidhinaisargikamatiḥ =      - aśeṣa-brahmāṇḍa-pralaya-vidhi-naisargika-matiḥ - अशेष — without remainder, entire, ब्रह्माण्ड — universe, प्रलय — dissolution, विधि — process/manner, नैसर्गिक — natural, innate, मति — disposition, understanding, 
He whose innate capacity encompasses the dissolution of the entire universe.

श्मशानेष्वासीनः - śmaśānēṣvāsīnaḥ =    - śmaśāneṣu āsīnaḥ - sitting in cremation grounds 

कृतभसितलेपः - kṛtabhasitalēpaḥ =    - kṛta-bhasita-lepaḥ -     कृत — made/done, भसित — sacred ash, लेप — smearing 
smeared with sacred ash

पशुपतिः - paśupatiḥ - Paśupati (Śiva)
दधौ कण्ठे - dadhau kaṇṭhē - held in the throat

हालाहलमखिलभूगोलकृपया - hālāhalamakhilabhūgōlakṛpayā = हालाहलम् अखिल-भूगोल-कृपया - hālāhalam akhila bhūgōla kṛpayā - “halahala” poison out of compassion for the whole universe.

भवत्याः सङ्गत्याः - bhavatyāḥ saṅgatyāḥ - by His association with you

फलमिति च कल्याणि  कलये - phalamiti cha kalyāṇi kalayē - is this fruit,  I consider 

அண்டமதன் அழிவதனை உள்ளடக்கும் இயலாற்றலுடை
பிண்டம் சுடும் காட்டதனில் திருநீரு பூசி நிலை பசுபதி
தஞ்சமென்ற அண்டம் மேல் கருணை கூர்ந்து கொடி
நஞ்சதனை மிடறுதனில் நிறுத்தியதும் சொந்தமெனும் உன்
உறவதனின் பயனாலே அன்றோ மங்கல நாயகியே கல்யாணி !  17

Meaning 

O Auspicious One! Pāśupati naturally has the power to bring about the dissolution of the entire universe. He sits in cremation grounds, smeared with ashes. Yet, out of compassion for the entire world, He held the Hālāhala poison in His throat. I understand even this as the fruit of His association with You.
