Introduction 

In Dasakam 5,starting with the divine intention (sankalpa) or will within the Supreme Being to bring forth the universe, Narayana Bhattathri has so far outlined the evolution of 

1. Purusha, 
2. Prakriti, 
3. Mahat, 
4. Ahamkara 
5. Fourteen Presiding deities 
6. Four functions of Inner conscience,  
7. Five Sense and five action organs 
8. Five Tanmaatras and the five Pancha Bhootas. 
9. Creation of Hiranyagarbha, the Golden Egg.

Concluding this Dasakam, Bhattathri brings out the final evolution of the Virat Purush into the fourteen worlds.

இந்த தசகத்தில், ஸ்ரீ. நாராயண பட்டத்திரி பிரம்மனின் பிரபஞ்ச வடிவத்தின் பரிணாமத்தை (ஸ்ரீமத் பாகவதத்திற்கு ஏற்ப) பிரம்மனின் "விராட் ரூபத்தில்" வழியாக அறிய உதவுகிறார்.

अण्डं तत्खलु पूर्वसृष्टसलिलेऽतिष्ठत् सहस्रं समा:

निर्भिन्दन्नकृथाश्चतुर्दशजगद्रूपं विराडाह्वयम् ।

साहस्रै: करपादमूर्धनिवहैर्निश्शेषजीवात्मको

निर्भातोऽसि मरुत्पुराधिप स मां त्रायस्व सर्वामयात् ॥१०॥

அண்ட₃ம் தத்க₂லு பூர்வஸ்ருஷ்டஸலிலே(அ)திஷ்ட₂த் ஸஹஸ்ரம் ஸமா:

நிர்பி₄ந்த₃ந்நக்ருதா₂ஶ்சதுர்த₃ஶஜக₃த்₃ரூபம் விராடா₃ஹ்வயம் |

ஸாஹஸ்ரை: கரபாத₃மூர்த₄நிவஹைர்நிஶ்ஶேஷஜீவாத்மகோ

படைத்த அப் பொன் அண்டம், நீ முன்

படைத்த பேராழிதனில் காலமாயிரம்

உறைந்த பின் உடைத்திட்டு இரேழு

உலகம் படைத்திட்டு விராடமெனும்

அளவிலா பேர் உருவமென பொறிபுலன்

ஆயிரமாயிரமென அனைத்திலும் பறவி

காட்சி அளித்தனையே குருவாயூரப்பா

காத்திடுவாய் எந்தன் துயர் நீக்கிடுவாய் 5.10

aNDaM tatkhalu puurvasR^iShTasalile(a)tiShThat sahasraM samaaH
nirbhindannakR^ithaashchaturdashajagadruupaM viraaDaahvayam |
saahasraiH karapaadamuurdhanivahairnishsheShajiivaatmakO
nirbhaatO(a)si marutpuraadhipa sa maaM traayasva sarvaamayaat

Meaning in English 

This golden egg was submerged in the primeval creation of causal water,

And was divided by you in to fourteen parts and you called it Virat,

And you became all the beings yourself and existed as Virat Purusha,

Along with thousands of hands, legs as well as heads,

And Oh Lord of Guruvayur, you who are the Virat Purusha,

May be kindly pleased to save me from all the diseases. 5.10

Meaning of the Sanskrit Words 

अण्डं तत्-खलु - that Brahamanda, indeed

पुर्व-सृष्ट-सलिले- in the already created Cosmic Waters

अतिष्ठत् - (which) remained

सहस्त्रं समा: - for a thousand years

निर्भिन्दन - (Thou) breaking it open

अकृथा: - Thou did make (it)

चतुर्दश-जगत्-रूपं - in the form of the fourteen worlds

विराट-अह्वयम् - known as 'Virat Swarupa'

साहस्त्रै: करपादमूर्धनिवहै: - with thousands of hands, feet and heads

निश्शेष जीवात्मक: - as all beings (Samashti - total life form of all beings)

निर्भात: असि - Thou did shine (manifest Thyself)

मरुत्पुराधिप - O Lord of Guruvayur!

स मां त्रायस्व - That Thou (of such nature) protect me

सर्व-आमयात् - from all ailment
