Introduction

In the first Sloka, Narayana Bhattahri brought out that before the Maha Pralaya (The great deluge/Big Bang), only Brahman exists.

The question that naturally followed this assertion was “what happened to all the existing things, living and non living entities at the gross and subtle levels?”.

The answer was provided in the next Sloka 2 wherein Bhattathri brought out that everything else was in unmanifested, undifferentiated state inside Brahman.

Now comes the next question. What happens next?
Answer for this question is Sloka 3.

Meaning in English

Thus when a period of two Paraardhaas of Brahma ended, Thou cast Thy glance, which was with the will to create the three worlds.

Then Maayaa (Thy creative power) got activated and from it emerged the power of time, the impressions of karma and the resulting tendencies.

These supported Maayaa by disturbing the balance of the three Gunaas and diversified as the manifested universe.
