When a flower predominantly grown in South of India and a Hindustani Classical Raga of the North India merges, you get nothing but pure Nectar (madhu).
No wonder, I saw these Jasmine flower plants in the apartment of a Delhi based “Madarasi” (a typical name given to people from South India living in North India), now settled in Bangalore. Being a very close relative of mine, I didn’t waste much time to pull out my iPhone, open the Camera and iTunes.

The essence of Spring time rising viewed from the 25th floor of Upper East of Manhattan with iPhoneX accompanied by the soft music by my grandchildren. What else do one need to brighten up the day?
As the Sun sprays its color,
When the Bulbs sprout,
When colorful birds begin their work with tunes
When the Cherry blossoms
We know its time for a new hope

What is a window ? I am not talking about either Bill Gates or Microsoft. I am talking about the simple, centuries old, “opening” that allows light, air and sound in buildings.
To quote Jeffrey Kipnis (Architectural Critic) “The architectural effects of a window have nothing to do with your description of the everyday building effect. The reason there are so many different windows is because the architectural effect is totally different than letting light, air, and views through windows. Every architect uses windows totally differently to take advantage of light, air, and views, but windows also frame views, change reflections, and do all sorts of things. They work at the existential and philosophical level, not at the functional level of building.”
Let us now look at the frame views and reflections that different windows provided to me in three residences at three different places in the East of the USA. This is in the form of a video.

These are strange and testing times. For many across the world, what next is a big question now. Anxiety and stress appears to be the key question that is lingering.
The answer to this question is not simple. For example, the answer by a Professional need not be applicable to the Retired; the Urban may have a completely different perspective to this question as compared to the Rural. It is a fact that the answer needs to be found out by everyone in their own way and at their own pace.
I am confined for nearly 3 months to the glass, metal & wood partitioned tiny space surrounded by “concrete jungle” in Manhattan. I was no exception to the universal phenomenon of “stress” stated above. Thanks to God and Blessings from elders, in life I am very lucky in several ways; one of them being “having access to a wonderful accommodation at a village in the Suffolk County” post retirement. Riding on my luck, I decided to go in for a heady cocktail of “HPK” (Hamptons and Poorvi Kalyani) twice a day for a week to bust the accumulated stress.
Wondering what is this cocktail about!
“Poorvikalyani” is one of my favourite “Raga (the melodic structure) in Carnatic Music. It is a Pleasant and Popular Raga and has six notes on the ascent and seven notes in the descent. The raga has a profound effect on reducing anxiety and abdominal pain.
“Hamptons” is the near equivalent of Heaven for many upscale Newyorkers with beaches, sprawling bungalows and extensive greenery.
Combine these two. Wow! What a relief: what a magic this cocktail has done to rejuvenate me.

Who will get into this neural net first – Rain or Sun or Spring and who will know about it ?
Ever since I started my early morning walk in India several years ago, I have been an ardent devotee/follower of an important element of Nature – Fire represented by the Sun (Aditya or Soorya as we call it). Reciting the famous Sanskrit Verses (Aditya Hrudayam) and taking photos of the Sun using my iPhone is my near daily routine.
Here is an important verse from the Sloka.
आदित्यहृदयं पुण्यं सर्वशत्रुविनाशनम् ।
जयावहं जपेन्नित्यमक्षय्यं परमं शिवम् ॥४॥
Aaditya-Hrdayam Punnyam Sarva-Shatru-Vinaashanam |
Jaya-[A]avaham Japen-Nityam-Akssayyam Paramam Shivam ||4||
Aditya – Sun
Hridayam – heart
PuNyam – sacred
Sarva – all
Shatru – enemies
Vinashanam – destruction
jaya = victory
Avaham = giving, bestowing, producing, bringing forth
japa: = chanting prayers [japet = should chant/recite]
nityam = daily/forever/always
akshayyam = eternal
paramam = highest, greatest [superlative]
shivam = prosperity, well-being, happiness, blessed
Over the years that we have been traveling to the USA, this is the first time that we have visited during the Spring/Summer. Needless to say that this was a “Sun” given opportunity to interact with Him and listen to His language of expression. During my travel across in Pennsylvania and Newyork States this Spring, He was kind enough to provide me ample opportunities for interactions.
Springing Eastern Sun (PANY 2019 – depicting photos from PA & NY) is the gist of my interactions with Sun.

Verse 47 (The Spring arrives)
शम्भुध्यानवसन्तसङ्गिनि हृदारामेऽघजीर्णच्छदाः
स्रस्ता भक्तिलताच्छटा विलसिताः पुण्यप्रवालश्रिताः ।
दीप्यन्ते गुणकोरका जपवचःपुष्पाणि सद्वासना
ज्ञानानन्दसुधामरन्दलहरी संवित्फलाभ्युन्नतिः ॥ ४७॥
இதயத்தோட்டமதில் சிவ தியான வசந்தத்தின் வருகை எனவே
முதிர் இலைகளெனும் பாவங்கள் உதிரும், பக்தியெனும் கொடிகள் படரும்,
நல்வினைகள் துளிர் விடும், சீர்பண்பு மொக்குகள் விரிய சிவப்பண்கள் மலரும்,
மெய்ஞானத் தேன் ஓடும் , பேரின்பத்திளை எனும் கனிகள் தாங்கும்

शम्भुध्यानसरोवरं व्रज मनो हंसावतंस स्थिरं
किं क्षुद्राश्रयपल्वलभ्रमणसञ्जातश्रमं प्राप्स्यसि ॥ ४८॥
பேரின்ப அமிழ்து உறை, தேவமுனிஇதயங்கள் வாழ்,
பாவங்களெனும் மாசு அகற்றும், புண்ணிய மணம் பரப்பும்
ஞானியரெனும் அன்னப்பறவைகள் வெகுநாடும்,
பார்வதி நாயகனின் நீர்நிலைதனை நிலையாக அடையாமல்
சிரியோருக்கு உகந்த சம்சாரஅல்லல் எனும் சேறுநிறை குட்டையிலே
குறியற்ற பயணமேற்று வீணேஉழன்று திரியாதே மனமெனும் ராஐஅன்னமே !

नित्याभीष्टफलप्रदा भवतु मे सत्कर्मसंवर्धिता ॥ ४९॥
பேரின்ப அமிழ்தெனும் நீர் பாய்ச்சி, பேரிறையின் பொற்பாதமலரடியில் முளைத்து,
மனஉறுதிக் கொம்பதனில் சுற்றி, கிளைசிறுகிளைபல அடர்ந்த என்மனப்பந்தலின்
உச்சியிலே, தீவினை தவிர்த்து நல்வினை உதவ நன்கு படர்ந்து, யான்விழையும்
இனியமுக்திக்கனிகளை அனுதினமும் அளித்திடுக பக்தியெனும் படர்கொடியே !

வசந்தத்தில் மகிழ்ந்தாடி, கண்கவர ரீங்காரமிட்டடு
மலர்நிறை மலை விழை, எங்கும் பறந்துதிரியும் கருந்தேனீ ஒப்ப
பிரிங்கிமுனிவிழையேற்று நடனமாடி, வேழஅசுரனை வதைத்து,
மாயனின் வடிவான மோகமதை விரும்பி, ஓம்கார நாதனாய்,

அமழ்தெனும் நீர் பொழி, வறட்சிவிளை பெருந்துயர்தணி,
அன்னப்பயிர் செழி,மகிழ் மயில்கள் நடனம் விளை
உலகோர் போற்றும், எவ்வடிவம் ஏற்கும், மின்னலுடன் இடிக்கும்
மலைவாசம் மிகு நீல வண்ண மேகமென
கருணை மழை பொழி, கடுங்கோடை வெயில்எனும் துயர்தணி,
அறிவுப் பயிர்செழி, நல்மனம் போற்றும், மயில் நடனமாடும் அடியார்நிறை,
எவ்வடிவம் ஏற்கும் மின்னார் செஞ்சடையோன் நீலமிடறு மலைவாசன் மேல்
மழை வரவு அறிவிச் சுடலைக்குயிலெனும் என்மனம், நிலவுலாவிய
நீர்மலி வேணியன் உனை விழைகின்றதே உமையோனே, சங்கரனே!

आकाशेन शिखी समस्तफणिनां नेत्रा कलापी नता-

श्यामां शैलसमुद्भवां घनरुचिं दृष्ट्वा नटन्तं मुदा
वेदान्तोपवने विहाररसिकं तं नीलकण्ठं भजे ॥ ५३॥
செஞ்சடையில் வான் மயிற்கொண்டையென, மயில் பகை அரவரசனை பூண் என
அணிந்து, அடியாருக்கருள் புரிந்து, மயில் அகவும் கேகியென ஓம்காரமுரைத்து
மேகஎழில் மலைமகள் கண்டு மழைமுகில் கண்ட மயிலென ஆனந்த நடனமாடி
வேதாந்த நந்தவனம்தனில் விழைந்து விளையாடும் நீலமிடறு நாயகனெனும்
வண்ண மயிலதனை நான் வணங்குகின்றேன்

यस्मिन्नुज्ज्वलताण्डवं विजयते तं नीलकण्ठं भजे ॥ ५४॥
கோடைமுடியும் வேளையிலே, இளமாலைப்பொழுதினிலே,
மாயவனின் கரம் எழுப்பும் மிருதங்க ஒலி இடியெனமுழங்க,
தேவரினவிழிகள் மின்னலென ஒளிக்க, அடியாரின் மனமுருகிவிளை
ஆனந்தக்கண்ணீர் மழையெனப் பொழிய, பெண் மயிலெனும
அன்னை உமையவள் முன்நின்று ஆனந்த நடனமாடிக் களிக்கும்
ஆண் மயிலெனும் நீல்கழுத்துடை பரமசிவனைத் துதிக்கின்றேன் யான் !
